Initial Appointment
The initial appointment involves a consultation to review the ailment(s) that you would like to address, as well as, a complete review of systems of the body. Each patient starts with fills out a personal medical history form along with other medical forms. The initial appointment will review all paperwork and/or diagnostic material provided. The presenting complaint of the patient is reviewed to assure proper treatment is given to support healing. Additionally, a verbal inquisition is done to review the overall health of the patient. These questions can include the function and health of various parts of the body. This allows us to get a complete view of the how the current ailment is affecting or is caused by other imbalances in the body.
Every person is unique. Oriental medicine takes in account the complete person, not just the ailment. Everyone’s unique constitution, or genetic predisposition, is created as we where created by our parents. These predispositions make us who we are, and allow for everything to affect us in different ways. Illnesses affect each person differently which makes each person a unique being. Oriental medicine takes this into account and allows for the practitioner to prescribe a unique treatment for each person. We take great pride in getting to know each person and understand what they are about.
The initial appointment can last up to one hour. The initial intake and review of systems can take up to 20 minutes. The acupuncture treatment will last around 20 minutes. If additional modalities are prescribed, more time can be allotted for herbal prescription, Tui Na, or nutritional consultation.
Subsequent Visits
Each visit after the initial visit will last around 45 minutes. Each time a shorten review of systems will be taken to access changes from previous visit(s). The treatment will and can be adapted to meet any new needs created by ailments that have manifested since the last treatment. The patient is always the center of the treatment, and will determine how each session be designed based on the that day.
