Post-Heaven Essence is the essence that is refined and extracted from foods and fluids by the stomach ans spleen after birth. Once a child is born it starts to get it's nourishment from this form of essence. It comes from the foods it eats and air it breathes because the lungs, spleen, and stomach refine these sources. As mentioned previously, essence or Jing is the main source of energy in the body. The amount of essence in our body comes from three different source: Pre-heaven Essence, Post-heaven Essence, and Kidney-Essence.
