The levels of stress in our lives these days is quite high. The body’s response to stress is different for each person. The effects of stress on our bodies has started to be seen by medical professionals, and is the leading cause for high blood pressure. Acupuncture and herbal treatments help regulate the effects of stress on the body, while creating an internal healthy balance. This healthier balance allows us to interact with our environment in happier, healthier manner. IT allows us to engage and work with the situations in our lives that create stress, instead of either running away from them or meeting them head on with opposition.

According to c2clive.com, acupuncture is valuable treatment method to reducing stress and living healthier and happier lives.

As our lives have become more stressful and hectic, medical professionals have begun to see the effects of stress on our health. Stress is a leading cause of high blood pressure, which in turn is a leading cause of heart attack or stroke. But stress can be responsible for other disorders as well.

Most people have a “weak” point in their body that will react first when the person is under stress. For example, it may be that a person gets headaches when they are highly stressed, or perhaps they will experience digestive trouble in stressful situations.Learning to manage stress can be an important tool to improving a person’s overall health and well being. Not only can stress reduction create a positive impact on physical health. It can also help you sleep, communicate better in relationships and even perform better in school or at your job.

Traditional stress management techniques have included things such as visualization, relaxation and meditation exercises. But increasingly, people in Western society are beginning to recognize the value of the Chinese therapy of acupuncture. Acupuncture’s ancient approach to health care offers powerful protection against the damaging affects of stress. Acupuncture is based on the concept of maintaining balance and harmony within the body by facilitating the flow of life energy in it.

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have always been an effective, low cost, and non-invasive form of treatment for thousands of years. Sometimes when modern medical treatments aren’t as effective or available, doctors will turn to an alternative such as acupuncture.

According to NaturalNews, Iraqi doctors had small supplies of oxytocin to help women during c-section deliveries during birth which lead them to look for alternatives.

Rattled by years of war and conflict, the capital city of Iraq is seeing a shift in medical protocol, according to a recent study. Because there has been a shortage of certain pharmaceutical drugs in Baghdad throughout the past decade, many doctors there have begun to successfully use acupuncture treatments instead.

The study, published in the British medical journal Acupuncture in Medicine, evaluated 200 different pregnancy cases at the Red Crescent Hospital for Gynecology and Obstetrics in Baghdad between 2004 and 2006 when there was a shortage of oxytocin, a drug used to help women who have just given birth via a c-section. The drug is typically administered to help cause the womb to retract and to help prevent excessive bleeding.

However because of the shortage, doctors began to look for alternative treatments that would help spare the drug. Remarkably, doctors found that acupuncture treatments worked beautifully on patients and greatly reduced, or even eliminated, the need to use oxytocin.

“Oxytocin…proved largely unnecessary in my series (of patients), apparently through the action of acupuncture,” explained Lazgeen Zcherky, anesthetist and author of the study, in a report.

The Baghdad study revealed that 45 percent of the women who received acupuncture after their c-sections had no need for any oxytocin. Thirty percent needed some, but did not need a full dose. None of the women required a full dose.

Acupuncture is a traditional form of Chinese medicine that involves inserting small needles into pressure points on the body in order to reroute body energy. As strange as it sounds, it actually works very well for many people and is now being utilized all over the world.

The beauty of acupuncture is that is does not carry with it harmful side effects like pharmaceutical drugs do. And whatever provides benefit without causing harm is preferable to conventional treatments that carry with them significant risks.

Migraines headaches are very debilitation problem that many people deal with on a regular basis. Migraine sufferers generally can feel them coming and quickly try to get a medication to hopefully head off the pain early. We look at this ailment in Chinese medicine as an internally imbalance that creates this larger pain response n the body. Many patients walk through my door seeking relief from this pain. Acupuncture and herbal therapies are design to get to the source of the ailment and work at removing it creating balance. The migraines usually start to change in two main ways. First, the intensity or pain level starts to subside and secondly the frequency starts to spread out having less episodes than before.

Recently, an article was posted at theFrisky about a persons firsthand experiences with using acupuncture and herbal therapy to treat migraine headaches.

Though admittedly a bit freaked about needles voluntarily being jammed into my body, I was also pretty desperate. I also had no idea just how healing acupuncture would be. Working with an attentive, sensitive acupuncturist and herbalist, I began a course of treatment, combining herbal remedies and twice-weekly acupuncture that took only several months to have a profound effect. As my healer Jaimie often told me, “There is life after migraines.” No one had ever said something so obvious yet so empowering to me before. Within six months, I no longer needed to visit her regularly. Within a year, I had a needle treatment once a month, right before my period, to keep most of my symptoms at bay; I was otherwise mostly migraine-free.

Back pain afflicts more than 26 million Americans fro the ages of 20-64, according to the American Pain Foundation. It is also one of the biggest reasons that a person goes to visit their doctor. Back pain is usually isn’t just a temporary situation either, it bothers individuals from months if not years. The main traditional recourse is back surgery to relieve the pain.

According to CNN,

In reality about 85 percent of people don’t need — and won’t benefit from — back surgery, says Dr. Anders Cohen, M.D., chief of neurosurgery at the Brooklyn Hospital Center, in New York City.

One of the first and most effective resources for people with chronic back pain is acupuncture. “We’ve had great success with acupuncture. It’s great for someone who gets pain that’s situated in the back or neck and is not radiating down the arms and legs so much,” says Cohen, who is a retired tennis pro. “I’ve had it myself, gotten up, and felt 75 percent better.”

Nursing students from Armstrong Atlantic State University traveled to China for some hands on study of Eastern Medicine. These student had the opportunity to view various treatment modalities that are using in Oriental medicine to help heal people. One of the student herself needed some care.

According to Savannahnow, Debbie Stively had acupuncture to treat a stubborn low back pain with great success.

Debbie Stively had tried nearly every treatment known to western medicine to relieve her chronic back pain.

An on-the-job injury years earlier had left the nurse in almost constant pain. Surgery, epidurals and muscle relaxers had only offered temporary relief, if any at all.

A recent trip to China convinced Stively to try another option: acupuncture.

“After three treatments, I was off all of my pain medicine, off all of my muscle relaxers and really doing well,” she said. “It’s pretty amazing.”

These benefits of helping the mind relax is starting to be used by our government. We all can agree that war is a very stressful situation that has repercussions on the body. PTSD is post traumatic stress disorder that can arise after many different kinds of stress especially life endangering ones.

According to Temple Daily Telegram, soldiers returning from war can now receive acupuncture to help treat PTSD.

Soldiers returning from combat in the Middle East with post-traumatic stress disorder can opt for some alternative forms of treatment that include acupuncture.

Another good story of how acupuncture and Oriental medicine help a family grow and expand in a natural, balanced way.

According to NBC Miami, acupuncture and herbal medicine can raise the chances of conceiving by 65%.

Danielle and Gavin Smith now have the family they had prayed for, with a two year old son named Isaiah and his sister on the way.

But it was an emotional and grueling four-year journey for the South Florida couple. After being diagnosed with endometriosis and going through surgery, Danielle’s endometriosis came back.

“I had completely given up on getting pregnant because I wasn’t willing to make it a science project,” said Danielle. “With all the fertility treatments that we had tried, we just accepted the fact that it was not meant to be for me.”

Determined not to go through anymore trauma, Danielle met with Dr. Farrar Celada a licensed Acupuncturist and was introduced to acupuncture. After three months of treatment, Dr. Celada gave her the news she was hoping for: she was pregnant.

Acupuncture, frequently used with Chinese herbal medicine, has been around for centuries. Dr. Celada said the practice of Acupuncture is now becoming more mainstream. A scientific study showed that overall, women who got the treatment were 65-percent more successful in getting pregnant than women who did not.

Oriental medicine has been around for thousands of years helping people regain their health without any invasive procedures. Western science’s have struggled with scientific evidence over the past years, but are finally starting to find the chemical reactions that take place in the body.
According to Toronto Sun, scientific evidence is starting to lift the veil of previously unknown affects of acupuncture.

Acupuncture (from the Latin acus, meaning needle or pin, and punctura, puncture) has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for millennia to restore good health and relieve pain. This very complex practice is based on the Chinese belief that a person’s vital energy, known as qi, circulates through the various parts of the body along channels called meridians. According to this theory, inserting fine needles in precise places allows the practitioner to access these meridians and re-establish the person’s energy balance. The technique is used to cure a list of problems, especially pain.

Although acupuncture’s benefits have generally been viewed with suspicion in Western medicine, this hasn’t stopped it from being used successfully around the world by an ever-increasing number of people. As well, the World Health Organization (WHO) now recognizes acupuncture as an effective treatment for at least 20 different diseases and illnesses, particularly fibromyalgia, asthma and migraines.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a relatively new ailment in the grand scheme of things. Our highly specialized jobs these days keep individuals doing very repetative work that can overtime create issues in the structure of the body. Overuse of the hands can result in pressure on the nerves in the wrist because of imflammation in the carpal tunnel. Acupuncture works well to resolve this swelling and unblock the area.

According to Castanet.net, acupuncture increases blood flow to promote healing in the area.

With acupuncture we can reinforce the energy of kidneys and liver in order to strengthen the bones, muscles and tendons to allow them to heal properly and prevent future injury. We can also encourage circulation of the stuck energy and blood in order to break up the blockages in the injured area and promote healing. Acupuncture provides relief from pain and inflammation, but also encourages healing to the area and a healthier state of functioning, so that the carpal tunnel area is more able to withstand injury and sustain health during frequent use.

A recent study done with patients with congestive heart failure measured peak oxygen uptake before and after an acupuncture treatment. Congestive heart failure patients oxygen levels in their blood are lower than normal because the heart is not work as optimally as a health heart. This leads to shortened levels of exertion before rest is needed.

According to an article at Pulse, acupuncture remarkably improves exercise tolerance.

They were randomized to receive acupuncture or placebo – a needle that simulates the procedure without piercing the skin.

No improvement in cardiac ejection fraction or peak oxygen uptake was seen. But the six minute walk distance was ‘remarkably increased’ in the acupuncture group by 32m on average, compared to a drop of 1m in the placebo group.

Post-exercise recovery and ventilatory efficiency were both improved in the acupuncture group but not in the placebo group.
